TOMBALL, TEXAS REAL ESTATE

Tomball, Texas is located 18 miles northwest of downtown Houston, the center of town off of Highway 249, on F.M. 2920.   It started as a small railroad town in the early 1900’s, and the name “Tomball” was given in 1907 in honor of State Senator Thomas Henry Ball.   The city had an oil and gas boom when a 100 foot gusher was struck in 1933, and this brought hundreds of residents right away.  Tomball residents received free natural gas for over 50 years in exchange for exclusive rights given to Humble Oil & Gas to drill within the city.  This great city reached out and helped their residents by sharing this new found wealth.

By the mid 1900’s Tomball had developed into a major suburb of Houston and now is a booming, progressive, enjoyable area to live and work in.  Functioning as a commercial center for Houston’s large Northwest  quadrant, large businesses started  locating their operations there, such as the Compaq Center, Kwik Kopy Corporation, Friendswood Development, Willowbrook Mall nearby, and large medical centers, among many others.

This area is growing steadily and land and housing are still a great bargain.  Although housing and land values have been going up steadily, the city is still undervalued and a wonderful place that anyone would like to call home.  The more Tomball grows, the more you can still find a small-town atmosphere due to the friendliness and helpfulness of their citizens.  In this town a handshake is still honored and given as someone’s word, which you can truly count on (a great rarity anywhere in the world, especially this day and age).

Education is key here with Tomball Independent School District offering more than college academic studies, they also offer many alternative job related courses.  There are also many private schools and parochial schools  to choose from.

When Tomball College opened in 1988 there were 700 students. Today there are over 4,000 students enrolled.  The college is highly recognized for its quality of education, with the faculty staff maintaining masters and doctorate degrees.  The 72,000 square ft. Tomball College, the Community Center, and the Community Library which is connected to the Harris County library system have recently been completed.  The lovely grounds are easily accessed and beautifully maintained.

Large hospitals and medical centers keep expanding and are continuing to grow with new facilities which enable doctors and nurses to treat more people with specialized and personalized care.

Tomball also has so many great areas to visit, parks in and around the City as well as historical sites.  They also hosts annual events galore.

Although it is hard to believe, they are already celebrating their 100th Birthday which will be at the end of this year.  The City is already hosting several events each month and the events get larger as the Centennial gets closer.  The Birthday Bash actually takes place December 2, 2007, and everyone here is excited and involved in this great milestone for the City.  Even Tomball High School has gone retro and is sporting their new uniform in honor of Tomball’s Historical Centennial.

Housing in Tomball can run as low as $50,000 for older homes  and can easily reach $500,000 and up for newer custom luxury homes which are being built more and more.  There are many unrestricted subdivisions in Tomball, as well as highly restricted subdivisions some having gated communities; many are offering large, oversized, wooded lots.  There is abundant commercial and/or residential land available for investment or building your own home.

You can easily see why so many people keep flocking to this area each year.
